“Fire Control” (2013) - Commission
Created to accompany a live performance of Mary Lee Taylor Kinosian's piece "Firedance" for string quartet during the 2013 CINEMOVEMENTS event at Indie Grits Film Festival in Columbia, South Carolina. Kennedy and Rosentrater show thwarted attempts to control the element of fire by re-appropriating segments of mid-century industrial films found via the Internet Archive, Prelinger Archives, A/V/ Geeks, NASA, U.S. DoD and private collections.
“Person” by The Shunnarahs (2019) - Music Video
A spiritual seeker finds a lot of dead ends. Composed entirely of archival footage taken from a 1970s U.S. Information Agency series, "Person" revels in accidental choreography and remembers what it's like to be weird.
“Glean” by El Cantador (2009) - Music Video
As the song title suggests, the video gathers useful remnants, bit by bit, of the bands performance by filming their shadows, a visual synonym for the ephemeral nature of song.
